Creative writing assignment: An Ode to you

Waves sing goodnight

As the sky grows darker

Yet your eyes radiate light

A spirit so free and bold

Past troubles seem so long ago

A wanderer of the world

Would you care to take me?

A place carefree

Shores of your soul

A soul most alluring

The sun of your smile

Could set me alight

Lanterns dance in the breeze of dazzling hues

My darling I admire

His unbreakable will of diamond wire

His expression unfazed as the sky rains fire

I plead for patience

I plead for wisdom

Oh, how my armour can be the weeping of me

Ignorant little human minds do not trigger any bewilderment of mine

We crash and burn

We break and learn

I take no offense to cautiousness

Because so do I

Let us protect our fragile, young, newfound thing

Let us grow into something strong and think

Back to when the waves sang goodnight as the sky grew darker

Back to imperfect little rivers ready to intertwine

Please be gentle with this torrent of mine

As the nightingale sings the song of your name

Without this melody, love would not sound the same

I await the soft brush of your fingertips

Tracing the scars left behind

You calm the storms inside

Tuck the hair behind my ear

My vow to you is to fight

Is to battle injustice and to yearn knowing what’s right

My promise is to speak truthfully

From the unhealed wounds of my unhealed mind

My oath is to be grateful for you

With all that is left in me

With all the last of my might.
